Patrick Lamar Burr, 40, of Marietta was arrested Sunday on charges of felony aggravated assault and murder. He remains in the Cobb County Jail without bond.
Officer David Baldwin with Marietta Police said a female, whose name is not being released, was sitting in a car at the home in the 100 block of Griggs Street with her live-in boyfriend Arthur Will Moses Jr. when Burr arrived for an unknown reason.
Burr, who told police he used to date the female resident, reportedly came to the house around 2:30 p.m. Sunday, saw Moses and the female sitting in the car, pulled out a semi-automatic pistol and began firing into the car.
Baldwin said Moses was shot “multiple” times while attempting to get out of the car. The female was not injured.
Moses, 24, of Marietta died from the wounds.
When police arrived on the scene, Burr was still there, and he was taken into custody without incident.
Baldwin said detectives interviewed Burr in depth, but he was not sure why he didn’t run after shooting Moses.
Baldwin also could not comment when Burr reportedly dated the female homeowner or who called 911, but according to records, it was a female who called about the shooting.
