MARIETTA – Marietta Police have arrested a local man in connection with a Sunday afternoon shooting.

According to Officer David Baldwin with Marietta Police, homicide investigators are looking into a murder that occurred at a home in the 100 block of Griggs Street Sunday at approximately 2:30 p.m.

“Marietta Police officers responded to a report of a person shot at 113 Griggs Street,” the press release states. “When officers arrived on scene they found the victim, Arthur Moses Jr., 24, of Marietta, deceased from multiple gunshot wounds.”

Investigators discovered that the shooting suspect, 40-year-old Patrick Lamar Burr of Marietta, used to date the female resident at the address.

“Burr arrived at the house at approximately 2:30 p.m. and observed both Moses and his ex-girlfriend sitting in a car in the driveway of the house,” the release states. “Burr pulled out a pistol and began firing into the car. Both occupants of the vehicle attempted to flee on foot but Burr was able to fatally shoot Moses before he could escape.”

When police arrived on the scene Burr was still there and taken into custody on charges of felony aggravated assault and murder. He was taken to the Cobb County Jail without incident and is being held without bond.

My heart is broken over this loss. Mo, as those who loved him called him, was a gentle, loving and funny young man. He had greatness in him. He was an ordained minister who preached the word of God. He loved life and was searching for love and like most of us, in all the wrong places. To the gentleman who committed this crime, may you seek God's love and forgiveness and may the God of all comfort be with you and your family and friends during this time of trial for you. May all that knew and loved Mo be comforted by God's love and comfort and may we find peace that will get us through this time of hurt. May God keep us all and may His perfect peace abide now and forever.

I've heard stories in the media everyday of violence and criminal activity. I can a attest through personal friendship with the accused. This man has a heart of gold without any impurity. A faithful believer in god without evil in his heart. There is more to this story other than a simple man distraught with a broken heart. Condolences to the victim and his family.

I have known the accused for many decades. I can honestly tell you he is a God-fearing man. My heart and prayers go out to the victim that got shot and killed. There is a middle person that is the cause of all of this and she knows who she is. I'm sure she know how Pat truly and dearly loved her for over 20 years. A man's love and emotions can easily be broken. There is a thin line between love and hate. My condolences go out to the victims family. May God keep you and comfort you in this time of need.

My heart is broken and only through the love of Christ can I find comfort. I can attest to the fact that the heart of the man that is accused of committing such a thing, is not that of a cold-hearted killer. Those that know him are astounded and filled with grief. To the young mans family that lost a son, my prayers are for your peace and comfort in the midst of a terrible occasion.

My heart is broken just the same and as God is our only comforter, he is where our answers lies. My prayers are extended to the victim's family during this time. Mixed emotions can get involved in so many ways not knowing what to do. Should I cry or be mad? The one act that God expects from us is to FORGIVE! In no way do I condone the takingof another's life, however, The person which is accused of such a deed as taking a life, is extremely unlike him and no matter how he is painted to be a murderer, I know and those that know him, this is not the same person. We are shocked, overwhelmed, and shaken, we can not answer why and make sense of this but we can pray for one another. God gives his Hardest assignments to his Strongest soldiers. Lets come together and love more and live peacefully.

God is our only comforter and answers only to our call unto him!

You have no idea what this man has taken from us , my friend, my brother, you can only imagine the heart and anger we feel. But as a Christian I must ask God for peace, just hope that everyone else ask for that same peace.
