The wet and sometimes conditions windy weather conditions left behind damage in some parts of the metro area. In Austell, crews are trying to determine what role conditions had on a tree collapsing onto a home.

Cobb County authorities say a tree fell on a home on Ledford Drive at Gherry Drive. Neighbors in the area tell FOX 5 that the family at the home heard a loud crashing sound at around 1 a.m.

The couple, who did not want to go on camera, said they were sleeping in bed when the tree fell, crushing the bedroom and the rear of the house. They were not injured.

The couple is now staying with other family members in the metro area, according to neighbors.

It is not clear if wind or the rain-saturated ground caused the tree to collapse onto the home.

In DeKalb County, a tree is reported to have fallen on a home on Eastland Road. It is not known if anyone was injured.

Crews in northeast Atlanta are working to clean up a tree that fell at North Rock Spring Road, bringing down power lines and knocking out power in the area.

As of 6:30 a.m., Georgia Power is reporting that about 5,600 customers are without power, mostly in the northwest and western part of the state. In the metro area, they are reporting about 700 customers without power.
