At 9:30 p.m. Thursday, a female victim was approached by two males in the parking lot of the Wellington Point Apartments, 555 Manor Terrace in Smyrna. Officer Mike Bowman said the men demanded the woman’s purse and cellphone, and when she did not respond in a timely manner, one of the suspects struck her in the head with a handgun. The suspects then fled the scene in an older model Honda, Bowman said. The victim refused medical attention.
One suspect is a black male, approximately 5 feet tall, with a low fade haircut, Bowman said. He was last seen wearing an all-black T-shirt with “DARE” in red letters.
The other suspect is a 5-foot-2-inch black male, wearing a red and white striped knit cap, Bowman said. He was armed with a black semi-automatic weapon.
In an incident reported at 4:23 p.m. Thursday, a man entered the Walgreens at 2464 Roswell Road in Marietta and approached the checkout counter, requesting merchandise behind the counter. Bowman said that when an employee placed the items on the counter, the suspect opened his jacket to display a handgun. Bowman said the suspect demanded the merchandise and fled the store. He said it isn’t known if he fled on foot or in a vehicle.
Bowman said the suspect in the case is a 5-foot 9-inch white man in his late teens or early 20s, with a medium build, black hair and slight mustache. He was wearing a black hooded jacket and blue jeans and armed with a black handgun.
