God can’t help us unless there is an ‘us’

Is there anyone else out there scratching their heads and wondering, “Why are we still harping on what Obama didn’t accomplish?” Why are we not saying, “How do we get together and work for the common good?” Are we just going to spend four more years working for “our” party and leave the “common good” totally out of the picture? God help us — only problem is — God can’t help us, unless there is an us.

The problem is Fr Barrette, you will never have people come together as "us" when you have one group gaming the system, and the other group forced to pay - and villanized at the same time - for being the producers. I read loud and clear your message - and to me it reeks of socialism. Please give me one example of where this president has done anything that helps "us" - he has created more class and race warfare than at any other time in history, and has created, mostly by executive order, that one class of people (the producers) are only good for one thing - producing for the takers. Penalize the wealthy - sure, that will provide jobs. But the truth of the matter is, no matter what some talking heads may say, the time has come when you can "make out" better on unemployment, food stamps, welfare and every other program that is available, than you can working. So people sit on their couches, eat their fruit loops, watch Oprah and call into the unemployment office periodically, and live, many of them especially when they have 5 or 6 children on programs, better than those of who who work 5 or 6 days a week. The work ethic has been destroyed by years of increasing dependency, as a right, on the government, and you think things are bad now, wait until the producers say "ENOUGH"

Fr. Gene, as a practicing Catholic, I am grossly ashamed of the fact that 51% of us voted against the Church and for Obama, free contraceptives and abortion on demand.

As a friend of mine pointed out, we will have to break the law to obey the precepts of our faith.

A sad day for our Church!

Based on your letter, I must ask you, "Fr. Gene, Are you one of that 51%?"
