But for the Eagles, tonight is not just another night for football. It’s senior night.
Coach Harry Miles knows that a win tonight would mean a lot to the seniors, but it would also mean a lot to him as well.
Turns out there will be one senior that is not a player for the Eagles. Miles considers himself to be a senior on the team, since they all began to build the team’s foundation at the same time.
“It is always a special thing to get a win on senior night,” Miles said. “This one would be even sweeter since I came in with this class. We are seniors together I guess you could say.”
This has been a big year for the program at it set a new mark for wins. There has also been a significant improvement on the offensive side of the ball.
Seniors like quarterback Alex Ho-on, who leads the team in passing with 521 yards and six touchdowns, and Andrew Nuckolls, who has been a solid place-kicker and punter averaging 36 yards a punt, have helped change the direction of the Eagles’ program.
“He has flipped the field for us all season.” Miles said.
Now, North Cobb Christian would like another win at home before wrapping up the season at Clarkston next week.
“This would set the tone going into the offseason,” Miles said. “(It) will be a difference-maker one way or the other.”
This game has a chance to be high-scoring as North Cobb Christian and St. Francis each allow over 35 points a game.
Neither team has a chance to make the postseason, but they each have a chance to boost their season record by one more win.
In the case of North Cobb Christian, get four wins and give them a new season goal for next year.
