Chin was 37 and lived in Canton, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation into what caused the accident was continuing Wednesday, as the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration began looking into what caused the fatal accident.
“I can definitely tell you that the OSHA investigation is under way,” said company spokesperson Margaret McDonald.
Deputies were called to Pilgrim’s, located at 654 Univeter Road, about 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
“Upon arrival, deputies discovered an unidentified adult male who had been killed following an industrial accident,” said Lt. Jay Baker with the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office.
A representative for Pilgrim’s said the chicken producer company is cooperating with local law enforcement officials in investigating the fatal accident.
McDonald said the company had made several counselors available for support and assistance to help employees to address their grief.
Pilgrim’s was formerly Pilgrims Pride and is the second largest chicken producer in the world with facilities in 12 states, Mexico and Puerto Rico.
