The GSP and Crime Stoppers say the vehicle is believed to be a Ford F150 XL pickup truck made between 1992 and 1996. The color of the truck is unknown.
The driver of the pickup truck struck and killed 31-year-old Larry Allen Ward at approximately 12:25 a.m. while he was walking near Kellogg Creek Road in Acworth, according to the GSP.
The vehicle fled the scene and no witnesses have been located, but evidence from the scene led investigators to the vehicle description.
GSP officials are also requesting that repair shops that may have repaired a similar vehicle with front-end damage contact authorities.
Anyone with information on the vehicle is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at (404) 577-8466, online at www.crimestoppersatlanta.org or by texting the tip to CRIMES (274637.) Name or identifying information is not required to be eligible for the reward.
Ward was killed while walking west on the road near Romain Drive after leaving a nearby campground on foot, a Georgia State Patrol spokesman said at the time of the accident.
Gordy Wright, spokesman for the Georgia State Patrol, said a vehicle traveling west on Kellogg Creek Road struck and killed Ward and then left the scene.
Wright said the Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team from Calhoun was assisting the Georgia State Patrol in the investigation.
