MARIETTA — Key leadership is now in place for the largest fundraiser hosted by MUST Ministries. The annual Marietta Daily Journal Gobble Jog will be celebrating its 10th anniversary with the goal of attracting 10,000 participants.
The race is now one of the largest in the South and has raised more than $1 million over the 10-year span.
Holly Bass, CEO of the Cobb Travel and Tourism, is returning to chair the event. Joining Bass in leadership rolls are Alexis Amaden, owner of the Whitlock Inn and Allan Bishop, executive director, Retail Operations, WellStar Health System. They will spearhead the corporate sponsors division to help raise important money for the 40-year-old charity that helps those in need. Amaden was the first chairman of the race when it began in 2002 with 1,400 runners.
Almost 24 percent of the race participants come from teams, so heading up that area is critical to the event’s success. For six years, Rita Moore of Moore Pensions has taken the key role and brought in teams from schools, churches, neighborhoods, families and corporations.
One of the biggest undertakings in planning such a large event is coordinating the 200 volunteers. Rusty Smith of Marietta Power and Water is returning for the fourth year, assisted by Jeff Watkins of Watkins CPA and Advisory Services. For more information, visit www.gobblejog.org.
