Kevin Foley’s Friday column “Romney, Ryan faith and ‘least of these’” quotes “Jesus as he left the 99 in the fold, to go find the ones who were lost, ignored, excluded, overlooked, abandoned, uncared-for” mixes apples and oranges. On the surface, this sounds great, but the “Good Book” admonishes us to “rightly divide the word of truth.” Therefore, if Mr. Foley and his Christian left will “rightly divide” the 99 and one scripture (Matthew 18:11-14), he will notice that it applies to the spiritually lost, not to the socially ignored, excluded, overlooked, abandoned, uncared-for” since they are covered in other scriptures.
One such scripture admonishes “that if any would not work, neither should he eat. For we hear there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all…”
I realize that the “Christian left” includes these in with the truly needy (because they vote?) but that only perpetuates their situation and continues to rob them of their dignity.
The 99 and one scripture is solely about saving the “spiritually lost” so that they may become “a new creation … old things have passed away, behold all things are become new.” Then they can be on the giving side which completely changes their “want to“ and restores their dignity. This is the “Good Book’s” way to improve society, one person at a time, instead of perpetuating the situation which is also “breaking the bank.”

That almost as ridiculous as Obama saying he supports the U.S. Constitution.
