TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. (AP) — Police say a man dressed as a pirate faces charges after they say he fought with a teenager in a bloody brawl involving a knife on a pier over the Atlantic Ocean.

Tybee Island police say 40-year-old Joe Curtis Chatman is accused of throwing the 18-year-old from his bicycle and tossing the bike over the side of the pier early Sunday, during the annual Pirate Fest.

The Savannah Morning News reports (http://bit.ly/OQlfCa) that the teen managed to take a replica black powder pistol and a knife from the adult. Police say he used the knife to keep Chatman at bay before a police officer ordered the teen at gunpoint to drop it.

Chatman, of Avondale Estates, faces a felony aggravated assault charge. It wasn't known whether he has an attorney.
