WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) — A fiery accident on the New Jersey Turnpike in Mercer County may be threatening an overpass on Interstate 195.

State police say a tractor-trailer overturned and burst into flames in Washington Township near Interchange 7A.

New Jersey Turnpike Authority spokesman Tom Feeney says southbound traffic is being diverted off the toll road at Interchange 9 and northbound traffic must exit by Interchange 4.

Feeney says Interstate 195 is closed in both directions because the truck is burning below a 195 overpass.

Feeney says engineers will assess the damage to the overpass.

There’s no immediate word on any injuries.
