NORTHEAST COBB — A bicyclist is in critical condition after being hit by a car that then fled the scene this morning.
Cobb Police Sgt. Dana Pierce said the call came in at 5:44 this morning about a male cyclist being hit on Canton Road near East Piedmont. Pierce said the cyclist was riding southbound and was hit from behind by a car that left the scene. The cyclist landed in the driveway of the Krystal restaurant.
A witness has provided some information to police, but they are not releasing a description of the vehicle.
Investigators are also still working on identifying the cyclist, who was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital in critical condition. Pierce said he is a white male who appears to be in his 40s and was wearing a backpack.
