Police: Bicyclist critical after hit-run

NORTHEAST COBB — A bicyclist is in critical condition after being hit by a car that then fled the scene this morning.

Cobb Police Sgt. Dana Pierce said the call came in at 5:44 this morning about a male cyclist being hit on Canton Road near East Piedmont. Pierce said the cyclist was riding southbound and was hit from behind by a car that left the scene. The cyclist landed in the driveway of the Krystal restaurant.

A witness has provided some information to police, but they are not releasing a description of the vehicle.

Investigators are also still working on identifying the cyclist, who was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital in critical condition. Pierce said he is a white male who appears to be in his 40s and was wearing a backpack.

I'm a cyclist. I would never attempt to commute on a bike in the dark in this metropolitan area.

Smartphones have significantly increased the risk of getting hit by an inattentive driver.

Are the police seeking the driver? Why, so they can give her an award?

The cops around here always find a way to pin it on the cyclist, no matter what.

Bicyclers are considered 2nd class. Roads are the new Jim Crow. This place stinks. Badly.

How about all you automobile fans move to SAUDI ARABIA where you belong and let the rest of us change the landscape here into something where people want to live AND CAN LIVE??!?!?
