Georgia Ballet announces new season for ’12-13

MARIETTA — The Georgia Ballet opened the season with 26 professional members and three student trainees, its largest professional company to date. The season will open with “The Firebird,” a Russian folk tale set to an Igor Stravinsky’s score. Also on the program is New York City Ballet founder George Balanchine’s first American ballet “Serenade.” Performances of “The Firebird” and “Serenade” take place in Marietta on Oct. 20 at 7:00 p.m. and Oct. 21 at 2:00 p.m. at the Jennie T. Anderson Theatre/Cobb Civic Center.

From Nov. 30 until Dec. 2, the Ballet will feature founder Iris Hensley’s production of “The Nutcracker.” Five performances will be presented at the Jennie T. Anderson Theatre/Cobb Civic Center. The season will close with “Swirling Soirée,” a collection of all new works by emerging and established regional choreographers at the Murray Arts Center on the campus of Mt. Medtech enrolling students

MARIETTA — The Marietta campus of Medtech College is enrolling students for medical billing and coding specialist and medical assistant diploma programs. The campus also offers medical assistant, associates in applied science degree, along with certificate programs in electronic health records and phlebotomy.
