20 Pink Suitcase Sisters escaped the August heat and headed for cooler weather in the Pacific Northwest. For seven days, the travelers enjoyed time in Seattle before boarding an Amtrak train for a three-night stay in Portland, Ore.

Activities included a tour of Mt. Rainier, a visit to see the Butchart Gardens in Victoria, British Columbia, a food tour at Pike Place Market, a visit to see the Columbia Gorge and the Multnomah Waterfalls, and a tour of the history of the food carts in Portland.

Sisters on board were Margaret Adam, Juanette Anderson, Becky Appleton, Denise Bearden, Patsy Bennett, Karen Blackwood, Karen Callaway, Charlene Eubanks, Jean Gysin, Victoria Hunt, Kathy Lowery, Angela Pryor, Jan McMullen, Judy Reid, Beverly Rochin, Dee Savage, Joan Shular, Jenny Tidman, Susan Tinkle and Marjorie Wilson.

Mildred and Clayborn Davis of Jasper (formerly of Marietta) will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary on Sept. 27. The Rev. J.R. Cain married the couple in Ellijay in 1947. Mr. Davis is retired from Lockheed Georgia Co.

A reception hosted by the Davis children will be Sept. 30 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Gospel Temple Church at 10733 Ball Ground Highway in Ball Ground. Friends and family are invited to attend. No gifts please.

Just wondering, how long is Sally Litchfield going to be listed as "staying at home to raise her two children." Those children should have children by now. This sounds unbelievable.
