The Marietta Grassroots is an outreach program created to provide safe, family friendly events and activities with a special focus on showcasing local talent from the diverse cultures present in Marietta and surrounding communities.
Suzanne Murphy, president, said, “The day offers entertainment for all ages, from the music of local musicians, car show and antique vendors to the kids’ area that includes among other things free face painting and sand art.”
There will be more than 50 booths featuring art, crafts and antiques from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Weather permitting, the Hubcaps and History Classic Car show will feature cars 25 years and older from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Prizes will be awarded at 2:30 p.m., and there will be musical entertainment from 2 to 8 p.m.
The Catherine Kimbro Band, Peter Elizalde, Soul Tribe, The Derek McCloud Band, The Melanie Denard Band, Werd, Squinting Patrick, Jason Gridley, and No Parachute are the featured bands and solo artists that will perform a music act of 30 to 45 minutes throughout the day.
Les Saunders, vice president of Marietta Grassroots, said, “There is a lot of great local music talent around Marietta and the surrounding communities. We try to find that talent and put it on display for the community. It feels good to support local musicians, and it’s important for musicians to know their town supports them.”
