His brother describes 62-year-old Michael Keenan as older looking and in need of sunlight but happy to be free. His first meal out of prison Thursday night was pizza.
He was freed after a judge dismissed the murder charge against him in the 1988 throat-slashing of a man in Cleveland. Prosecutors plan to appeal.
Keenan’s co-defendant, Joe D’Ambrosio, was freed in 2010 by a judge who determined that prosecutors withheld evidence that could have exonerated him.
Marty Keenan says his brother’s first goal Friday was trying to arrange to have his wife come from Colombia. They were married after an inmate-pen pal romance.
