According to Cobb County Police, officers responding to reports of shots fired found Lydia King dead from apparent gunshot wounds in the yard of a home in the 2000 block of Olive Springs Road near Pat Mell Road just before 5:30 p.m. Sunday.
Lydia King’s husband, 55-year-old Joe King, was arrested without incident not far from the crime scene.
Officer Mike Bowman with Cobb Police could not say what may have led to the shooting, if there were any witnesses, who called in the incident, what kind of gun was used or how many shots were fired.
Joe King was taken to Kennestone Hospital in Marietta following his arrest but police are not releasing the details as to why he was admitted, said Sgt. Dana Pierce with Cobb Police.
However, Pierce did say that King’s hospitalization had nothing to do with any incidents involving the police.
King will be transferred to the Cobb County Jail sometime this later this afternoon where he will remain without bond.
Anyone with information about this case is asked to call (770) 499-3945.
