MARIETTA — Cobb Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the death of an inmate at Cobb Jail.

Sheriff Neil Warren said in a statement released Monday that Robin Tracy Harrington, 37, was pronounced dead at WellStar Kennestone Hospital at 11:30 p.m. Sunday, after being found unresponsive in his cell.

There are no signs of foul play, Warren said.

Harrington had been in custody at Cobb Jail since Dec. 1, 2011, when he was returned to Cobb from the state prison system to face charges of rape, aggravated assault, aggravated sodomy and burglary, according to the statement. Last week, he was ordered to serve three life sentences plus 20 years.

“Anytime there is a death of an inmate in custody, it is a tragedy for both the family and the staff of the Sheriff’s Office,” Warren said in the statement. “My thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Harrington’s family.”

Your headline implies that there was an investigation into the cause of this man's death, which begs the question, "What was the cause of this man's death?". A follow-up article would be good journalism--please give us an update. Thank you.

@ Tired Of It....If you had bothered to really read my post you would have have noticed I was going by an earlier report by WSB news and requested the MDJ to update their report. I had no idea he had just been sentence until I read the above article myself. Try reading a little better next time before you decided you need to correct someone. And do some research before you make assumptions. Either way he was not a nice guy.

@News Flash: ",,,I had no idea he had just (2011) been sentenced until I read the above article myself..." Me thinks that one should practice what they preach. Don't you?

MDJ do an update on this guy please. WSB TV news has identified him and lists his charges. He was serving three life sentences for RAPE back in 2003. Bet this was a suicide.
