HOLLY SPRINGS — The third season of “Bachelor Pad” will feature some new faces not seen in previous “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette” shows, and a 28-year-old Holly Springs man is one of them.

When the new season of the hit reality series kicks off July 23, Chris Bain, a SWAT team officer with the Marietta Police Department, will be a part of the show.

The reality TV show is a spinoff of the two series, with the first two seasons featuring former contestants of the shows competing for another chance to find love and win $250,000.

“For the third season, they had the same concept, but they only put in 14 prior contestants and selected six fans,” Bain said. “I was chosen as one of the two guys chosen as part of that six.”

The Marietta native and Walton High School graduate said he found out about the show while watching an episode of “The Bachelor” and submitted his video to the ABC website.

He got a phone call and flew to Los Angeles for several interviews before finally being cast for the show.

Bain said he himself is a bachelor, but noted that he’s “extremely picky.”

“I’ve got two parents who have been together for 40 years and I value marriage,” Bain said. “I want to make sure when I do get married that it’s the only time, so I am cautious.”

In participating in the reality show, Bain said he wasn’t initially prepared for the in-your-face nature of reality television.

“I was a little naïve,” he said. “I had high hopes going into it, but it is television, and I wasn’t prepared for reality television and cameras in your face 24 hours a day.

Bain said he wasn’t prepared for all of the drinking and partying involved in the show either.

“It takes a little getting used to,” Bain said. “It was definitely an experience.”

He said that the level of partying was something he does not normally participate in.

Bain, who worked for four years as a personal trainer, said his interests lie more in the field of fitness modeling and bodybuilding.

“That’s what I’d like to do more of in the future,” he said. “But right now, law enforcement is my full time job.”

Bain isn’t new to the Hollywood scene, as he began acting and modeling with East Coast Talent Agency in November 2011. He has appeared in several national advertisements and will be seen in several upcoming commercials as well as the reality show.

“It’s something I have always had an interest in,” he said.

“Bachelor Pad 3” premieres July 23 at 8 p.m. and will run for eight weeks. It airs on ABC and is hosted by Chris Harrison.

Well, I just watched the beginning and the ending of this stupid show, and I guess that Chris didn't find love. Back to "real life".

This guy wants to be out in front of his peers.

He don't care about his fellow officer, he is a self promoting individual. He is trying to use the law enforcement to promote his cause.

He never wanted to be public servant, just used it for a steping stone. Just a joke that slipped through the cracks of Justice. He can not handle the issue of law enforcement, so he is turning to reality TV, some that doesn't want to deal with it...

Somebody that is scared of life and what it has to offer to him/her...Good luck in your next life, cause you are in for a long road....

Let me say again, you have taken a self approach to this and all you are doing is self promotion you are not a true police officer. All you are concerned about is yourself and not the people you swore to protect. Get out if you can't do your job, your self promoting individual....

Life is short, sounds like it was an experience that none of you will ever get the opportunity to experience. Stop hating on the man!

It's amazing the number of people who get on here and bash others just to make themselves feel better.

Okay so maybe this guy isn't looking for love. Nobody who goes on these type of shows really are. But there is no need to rip him apart. He expressed an interest in acting and modeling and said it was his true calling. Who out there wouldn't do something to follow a dream. I believe he is doing this to try to get a foot in the door with agencies. And if that's the case I don't see why anyone should knock him. Think of what you would do if you actually had the courage to follow your dreams.

A huge embarassment to the Marietta force and cops everywhere! What ever happened to honoring the badge?

Ok, so Mr. Bain is "extremely picky" and "values marriage", but he is looking for a mate on a reality show? Sorry, but this story made me laugh out loud.

So, he was always intrerested in acting “But right now, law enforcement is my full time job.”

If law enforcement is not a calling for you, get out. It is a brotherhood that doesn't need you if it is just a job.

How demeaning. A real man would not subject himself to such whining gibberish. How could a woman pick from a group of boys competing for her affection. If she were looking for a real man, she would look for the one who stood above such stupidity and displayed honor and integrity. WHat has our society come to when celebrity is more important than character? How sad that one of Marietta's finest would do this.

Seriously people? Dishonoring the badge? Embarrassing Marietta and all police everywhere? Get over yourselves!!! The guy got to do something 99% of the people in the country will never get to do and he took a chance. He wasn't wearing his uniform and badge on the show while acting a fool. Was he supposed to lie about being an officer when they asked what he does for a living? You're only young once, live a little.
