Eight two-time winners highlighted Friday’s opening day of the Patti Wilder State Qualifying Swim Meet at Mountain View Aquatic Center.

The event, in which swimmers compete for neighborhood teams as opposed to their schools or clubs, sends advancing swimmers to the Georgia Parks and Recreation Association state meet, which will take place later this month in Carrollton.

The Hampton Ridge relay team of Michael Dugan, Henry Loong, Jimmy Yoder and Sam Horvath won twice — both with meet-record times. The quartet won the boys 15-18 200 medley (1:39.32) and 200 free (1:28.96).

The record-setting relay team dominated their two events, winning the first by 13 seconds and the second by 9 seconds. Loong and Yoder are teammates at Lassiter, while Dugan and Horvath attend Marietta.

Alexis Glunn, representing Northampton, won the girls 13-14 100-yard freestyle in 54.56 seconds, then added another win in the 100 individual medley (1:03.04). Teammate Nicholas Loprinzo won the boys 13-14 IM (1:02.97) and 50 backstroke (29.92).

Johnson’s Landing’s Stephen Lane won the boys 13-14 100 free (50.95) and 50 free (23.77), while Jefferson Township’s Daniel Bridgers won the boys 15-18 50 free (21.97) and 50 fly (24.63).

Davis Beauchamp, during the school year a Walton standout, duplicated the success of Lassiter rival Bridgers with wins in the boys 15-18 50 breaststroke (27.87) and 100 IM (55.07). Beauchamp was swimming for Princeton Lakes.

Jacksons Creek’s Olivia Winkler won the girls 15-18 100 IM (1:03.05) and 50 fly (28.17).
