ACWORTH — A large Fourth of July party led Acworth police to a home where they reportedly found underage alcohol consumption and marijuana plants inside a closet.

It was around 11:47 p.m. when police said they responded to a noise complaint in the 3700 block of Devon Park Lane off Old U.S. Highway 41, just south of North Cobb High School. Police counted 92 teens and young adults in attendance, some of whom told police they learned of the party through Twitter.

After obtaining a search warrant, police said they found alcohol, drugs and 14 marijuana plants inside a bedroom closet, said Acworth Police Chief Wayne Dennard.

Officers arrested two 19-year-olds whom they said lived at the residence and were at the party. They were placed in custody at the Cobb County Jail.

Taylor Castorina was charged with furnishing alcohol to minors, minor in possession of alcohol, disorderly house, manufacturing marijuana, and possession of heroin. His bond was set at $15,000.

Sean Jones was charged with furnishing alcohol to minors, minor in possession of alcohol and disorderly house. Bond for Jones was set at $5,000.

Dennard said police are currently investigating whether or not the teens had a legal right to be at the home.

Another 14 people were arrested on underage alcohol consumption charges, according to police. Three juveniles were arrested and later released to their parents. Police said another person was released on a citation for a related violation.

I saw APD release white/children of city officials to their parents. Some of these kids had drugs on them, but other kids who blew a .006 (which is the equivalent to mouth wash) were sent to jail. Even if the parent showed before they were taken. The police acted like bullies! They inflated the situation. The kids were asked to come outside the kids that obeyed the police were the ones sent to jail, because by the time the other kids decided to come out APD, could not facilitate them being remanded (i was told this by a police officer on the scene). So they locked up the kids with .006, which were mostly black. I even spoke to kids (other nationalities other than black) who admitted they were taking shots and the police let them go. But there friend who just took a sip went to jail! I watch this all unfold! I saw certain kids (white) joke about how they didn't get lock up on twitter. If you don't think race and social standing has nothing to do with who got in trouble you are delusional!

your comments read like a twit or nit-wit; why does everyone yell racism when they get caught doing something wrong and are being held accountable?

A citizen’s call for service, police response, and media coverage of 4th of July underage drinking party – an example of community and law enforcement working together to protect public health and safety! The Cobb Alcohol Taskforce previously warned of summer spikes in underage drinking activity, and sure enough this incident illustrates the dangers of underage drinking parties; besides intoxicated teenagers, as if that weren’t enough, other drug use and risky behaviors also occurred. Suggested actions to reduce future incidents are worth repeating:

- Report underage drinking parties - Call 911 or your local police precinct

- Report illegal commercial alcohol sales - Call 1-877-CheckID or 770-499-4719

- Refuse to supply alcohol to underage youth in your home or on your property

- Support local law enforcement efforts to enforce alcohol laws

- Advocate for Social Host Ordinances

- Join the Cobb Safe Neighborhoods Safe Homes Campaign

@CobbAT - The Marietta Country Club incident a few years ago highlights the fact that elected officials and kids of wealthy prople do not have to abide by the laws of everyone else. Why is that?

The underage drinking and drug use in West Cobb is out of control. The problem crosses all socio-economic boundries. The private school kids are not angels either. Suggest you folks set up camp in West Cobb to raid all of the weekly parties on a regular basis. Suggest you bring more officers each time, because kids joke on Twitter about how they escaped by jumping fences. Twitter is FULL of information about all of the escapades these kids are involved with. They are broadcasting to the world what they are doing. They are really stupid.

Complete waste of newspaper space, police resources, and our tax dollars.

If you are a parent, you better be stalking your kid's Twitter account. The savvy kids have ditched Facebook and are using Twitter as their secret way to communicate with each other. Knuckleheads are posting booze & drug parties all the time. One party announcement will reach hundreds, if not thousands of kids instantly. Twitter is our new nightmare. Wake up parents.

JUSTSAYIN' - No comparison. This wasn't an adult party with the children of those adults in attendance. There weren't 92 teens involved. Good heavens - talk about dredging up old tabloid news.

Just Saying - I believe there were at least 2 arrests in regards to the MCC party. Also, I don't believe there were drugs found at that party...a bit of a difference.

Could it be because John Wiles' son was there?

@Just Sayin: You are so correct! If you are a judge or government leader, you are immune from prosecution by these types of actions. The MCC folks do not have to abide by the laws of the common people.
