“The hall of fame was created to honor all of our previous overall small business of the year winners in conjunction with our 30th anniversary of the program,” said Tya Dawson, who manages small-business programs at the Chamber.
Those inducted were previous winners of the Small Business of the Year award. The group included K-9 Coach; Key Lime Inc.; Sundial Plumbing Services; Executive Printing; EPIC Response; Respiratory Care Services; Foot Solutions; Marketplace Promotions; Professional Group Associates; Scapes Inc.; Metro Atlanta Ambulance Service; Vascular Laboratories Inc.; Repro Products, Inc.; The Houck Group; Ashton Staffing; Anderson, Hunt & Co.; State Farm Insurance; C & S Paving Inc.; Entertainment Design Group; Atkins Concord Pharmacy; Flightworks; Mini Maid Services; Robert Bowden, Inc.; Carithers Flower Shop; Georgia Mountain Water; Burrellco Inc.; Prime Power; Futren Corporation; InfoMart; and Harrison Glass Co.
According to Chamber officials, hall of fame member businesses won’t be able to enter the annual contest in the future, but hall of fame members will be honored every year. The 2012 Small Business of the Year winner, Velociteach, will be inducted into the hall of fame next year.
Leone Hinzman, a former Cobb County homemaker who started Mini Maid Services in 1973 with a $10 investment, was the first female to receive the Small Business of the Year award in 1986.
“Receiving the prestigious Cobb Chamber Small Business Person of the year award was a tremendous highlight for Mini Maid Services and for me,” Hinzman said. “Being named the first female in Cobb County to receive this award was an honor and extremely gratifying.”
