MARIETTA — Federal authorities, including the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives have been called in to help with the investigation of several fires at women's clinics across metro Atlanta. The latest fire happened in Cobb on Wednesday morning.

The FBI says it appears this was a case of arson. They released a smart phone picture of a man who eyewitnesses say was seen in the area at the time of the fire.

He's about 6-feet tall and was wearing a blue polo shirt with an emblem on the left chest and khaki pants.

Eyewitnesses described the man's car as a gray Mercury Marquis with tinted windows and large chrome wheels.

The FBI is asking anyone with information on these two arson related incidents to give them a call at 404-679-9000.

Workers at the Cobb clinic said that two men went up to the third floor of the medical office that performs abortions just before the building fire was seen.

Some employees believe protesters who picket the practice may be behind the blaze.

Leslie Summerour of Kennesaw, a receptionist and medical assistant who has been with the practice for five years, said protestors have been a problem ever since she began working there.

“They bother us because of what we do here — abortions,” she said.

She saw two men go upstairs to the third floor to use the bathroom, which is common among patients’ drivers, and just five minutes later, the building “went up in flames,” she said.

“All we heard was bang, bang, bang, bang, ‘Get out! Get out!’ … and we thought there was a fight,” she said. “Another employee grabbed the fire extinguisher and was screaming for everybody to get out. I ran up the steps, not thinking, screaming at (owner Dr. Daniel McBrayer.)”

Summerour said McBrayer refused to leave, repeating “This is our jobs, our lives, our business. This is all we have.”

Nobody was injured in the flames, and most of the damage was confined to the top floor of the three-story brick building, where the practice stored its files and biohazard material, Summerour said.

There were about 15 employees inside the building at the time of the fire, as well as a few patients who were filling out paperwork and another who had just come out of a procedure.

“There was one that just walked out of surgery and was downstairs,” Summerour said. “What if she was still under anesthesia?”

The office will remain closed for now, but Summerour said her office manager was already looking for a temporary location.

This place may offer abortions, which are personally something I do not agree with, but not everyone who goes to this office goes for that, I have been twice for diet reasons. NEVER abortion. In fact I was there last week for a follow up to check my weight..and It is horrible to risk innocent peoples lives. So dont judge everyone you see walking into a place where this happens.

Former patients of Dr. McBrayer need to be aware that his office in Cobb County GA. is unlicensed. It is well known that he uses heavy anesthia and yet, on this morning " none was used"? Pretty conveinent since it usually takes 2 employees to escort patients to their cars after their procedures. This btw, is not proper standard of care, and could be considered negligent as all patients should be able to walk theirselves out of the facility prior to being discharged, and you should NEVER have to be carried out of the building! If this has happened to you please report this negligence and any other complications you may have suffered to the Georgia Composite Board of Medical Directors ASAP! Abortion should be safe if it is legal, corners should never be cut. Doctors like McBrayer don't carry malpractice insurance and most lawyers won't even sue unless you die during your abortion. Does this sound like safe and legal abortion to you? For help making a complaint contact me at: 770-445-5855and ask to speak to Michelle for help you are not alone and don't need to suffer silently!

All former patients of this clinic need to know that it is NOT a licensed facility and therefore, they need to report all abusive treatment, negligence and malpractice to the Georgia Medical Board. Dr. McBrayer is currently on probation which expires this Nov. If you suffered complications due to negligence please contact the Georgia Composite Board of Medical Examiners ASAP or call : 770-445-5855 and ask to speak to Michelle Wolven

It is well known that this clinic uses heavy anesthia on ALL patients. In fact most patients can hardly remember leaving the place because they are so drugged up and in fact are escorted out of the building by TWO employees shortly after their abortions. So, we are to believe that these unknown men got past their security guard their cameras, and "by the Grace of God no women were under anesthia"??? Yeah right! And why is the media reporting that this is a white man, he appears to have dark skin? If he doesn't than they should fix the pigmentation on the photos they've released. I sure hope the FBI, Cobb County police, Cobb Fire and Insurance company are looking closely at those who work at this office. Rumors have been circulating for months that other tenants are the Governors Ridge Complex want McBrayer out of their complex because he is hurting their businesses. It is also rumored that he has been looking to relocate for a while now. Fire, sure sounds conveint!!

“They bother us because of what we do here — abortions,” she said, in other words "we murder unborn babies". How many babies' lives can be saved by shutting down a "baby slaughter house"?

Abortion Clinic, yes, at least they called it what it is and not a "choice" clinic or a "woman's health clinic." Of course, if the whole truth was revealed, it would be correctly called a baby murder factory.

It's one thing to oppose abortion, but it crosses the line to endanger people and property.
