COBB COUNTY — Lisa Crossman, director of clinical and prevention services for Cobb & Douglas Public Health, received the Cobb Executive Women’s Glass Ceiling Award at the Cobb Chamber’s First Monday Breakfast. The award recognizes an individual for promoting qualified women in their personal and professional development.

“The Glass Ceiling Award was created by Cobb Executive Women in 1991 to recognize an individual who has a history of deliberate and conscious effort to promote qualified women … by providing opportunities for advancement in the workplace,” CEW said Chairwoman Joy Johnson.

Crossman is responsible for all aspects of service delivery and evaluation for Cobb & Douglas Public Health, including managing a $20 million budget and 257 staff members. She has been a mentor to six female district directors and an administrative assistant. Of the seven women, more than half have been promoted under her leadership.

“This award has such meaning to me, coming from this group of women,” Crossman said. “It inspires me to do even more to help others achieve their professional and personal goals.”

“As the mother of two young daughters, it means one more way that I can show them that women can achieve great things if we work smartly and collaboratively and if we learn, strive and give back every day. Last night, I had the opportunity to explain the ‘glass ceiling’ concept to them — at the same time I was hoping that the term would be obsolete by the time they reached the workforce,” Crossman said.

Previous Glass Ceiling Award winners include Georgia Attorney General Sam Olens; Jeri Barr of Center for Family Resources; Bonnie Cole of United Way Metro Atlanta; Joe Daniell of United Community Bank; and Dr. Lisa Rossbacher of Southern Polytechnic State University.
