SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) _ Firefighters in Savannah were using water and foam to battle a blaze the size of a football field at a recycling plant.

The Savannah Morning News reports that the blaze began early Monday morning when a large pile of materials caught fire at Sonoco Recycling on the city’s west side.

Authorities said a 25-foot high pile of shredded cardboard and plastics was burning. It took firefighters about two hours to knock down the visible flames, and company employees were using heavy equipment to break up the mound of materials so the interior could be soaked.

There were no reports of any injuries.
