ROSWELL, Ga. (AP) _ An explosion has been reported at the home of a Georgia man who fought to keep chickens on his property, and emergency officials say they found a body in the residence.

The explosion at the home of Andrew Wordes, who’s known as the “Chicken Man,” happened around 12:45 p.m. Monday. Officials say marshals had been on the scene for about two hours to evict Wordes.

Officials didn’t immediately confirm the identity of the body found in the house. Calls to his Wordes’ home were’t immediately returned.

Officials say the cause of the explosion wasn’t immediately known.

Wordes gained notoriety in 2009, when city officials cited him for raising poultry in his backyard. He was sentenced to serve jail time late last year after authorities accused him of property code violations.

Andrew was a good man at heart- He was pushed into a corner and refused to give into what he thought was wrong. I do not condone what he did, but I respect his resolve. He died fighting for his Rights, as a true example of the American Spirit. People are refusing to accept their personal rights being stripped away. Take heed.
