Marietta police have secured a warrant for Felipe Martinez, 25, charging him with interference with child custody.
Vasquez was last seen Friday morning by her parents, who said she called them later that night and told them she was with Martinez, police said. Vasquez said she and Martinez were preparing to travel to Mexico, according to police.
The Vasquez family doesn’t know what happened after she got out of Marietta Middle School on Friday. While Vasquez and Martinez have cellphones, neither has answered repeated calls.
As of Monday, no one had reported seeing the two, nor does anyone know how they are travelling to Mexico, police said.
Vasquez’ father, Angel, isn’t even sure why they would go to Mexico. The Vasquez family is from Honduras and Martinez is from Brazil, said family friend Jesus Velacquec, a pastor at Iglesia Pentecostal Unida Hispana in Marietta. However, Angel Vasquez said he believes Martinez might have a brother in Mexico.
Yarely Vasquez met Felipe Martinez about six months ago through their church, Atlanta West Pentecostal Church in Lithia Springs, and have been in a relationship for about three or four months, Velacquec said. Despite the age difference, the couple has not kept their relationship a secret: Yarely Vasquez’s parents knew they were dating, and Martinez has her name tattooed on his arm.
Angel Vasquez said not only did Martinez attend the same church as Vasquez, he lives nearby.
Even though Martinez is charged in Yarely Vasquez’ disappearance, that’s only because the two disappeared the same day, Angel Vasquez said. However, police said that she told her family she was leaving for Mexico with Martinez, and Marietta Police spokesman Officer David Baldwin said he does not know why Angel Vasquez said he’s not sure if the two are together.
Police don’t believe Yarely Vasquez is in any danger from Martinez, but her parents are very worried about her, Baldwin said.
Vasquez is described as a Hispanic female, 5 feet 4 inches tall and 140 pounds. She was last seen wearing a black shirt, white capri pants and brown shoes.
Martinez is described as a Hispanic male, 5 feet 5 inches tall, 145 pounds with brown eyes and black hair. He has tattoos on his upper arms and one on his left forearm that reads “Yarely.”
Anyone with information about the two is asked to call Det. Colin Berry at (770) 598-0586 or the Marietta Police Department Tip Line at (770) 794-6990.

We made mistakes handing out food stamps and medicaid and free emergency room services and etc. Now they drive without licenses and insurance and break the laws on a daily basis. And our own people are left to do without because of illegals taking advantage of our goods and services. I have free speech and "Get Real" needs to Get Real.
Her parents should be charged with accessory to this crime of rape and aiding and abetting such
relationship for SIX MONTHS. What about the law against under the age of 18, Statory Rape. I guess
the parents clain stupidity about that too. No matter how many churches they attend, you lay down with dogs, you end up with fleas.
