CANTON — The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with other authorities are searching for a man they say cashed about 10 counterfeit checks, totaling roughly $7,000, at various Walmart stores throughout metro Atlanta, including Woodstock and Acworth.

Officials have images of the suspect that were captures on several store security cameras and are asking anyone with possible knowledge of who the man is to contact investigators at the Tuscaloosa Sheriff’s Office, (205) 464-8646. Tuscaloosa County, Ala., officials are involved because local authorities say the fake checks represent an account at the Tuscaloosa County Jail.
