Say ‘no’ to Newt, the GOP’s answer to Bill Clinton

DEAR EDITOR:

I was shocked to see Newt Gingrich boast of his anti-enforcement agenda on immigration in the recent debates. More shocked to see that he is still passing himself off as a “conservative” and getting support and endorsements from other so-called conservative politicians.

My wife is an immigrant. Which means she came to the USA legally. The insult to real immigrants from Gingrich when he says that if someone can come illegally and avoid deportation for any number of years and be rewarded, will not be forgotten. Someone needs to tell me how he is different than Obama or Bush on illegal immigration. His “guest worker” amnesty plan is the same drivel that was thrown at us in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

I don’t see myself voting for someone for president that runs on the amnesty-again platform. Or someone who would probably say we need amnesty yet again in a few years.

If Gingrich is willing to admit now that he would be selective in enforcing immigration laws, no one should be surprised if his immense ego and ties to the open borders globalists would drive him to simply legalize all illegals with the stroke of a White House pen.

Newt Gingrich is not a conservative. He is the ultimate Washington insider who has repeatedly taken very liberal positions. The fact that he has supported an individual health care mandate like in ObamaCare should set off alarm bells all over the nation. What will he do next? He already sided with Nancy Pelosi on global warming.

I have heard the perfect definition of this man: Newt Gingrich is the GOP’s Bill Clinton.

Obama and Gingrich have essentially the same message on illegal immigrants while Romney, Bachmann and others have the courage to promise never to legalize them and to enforce the law. I want to hear loud and clear statements from all Georgia elected officials on their position on legalization and on Gingrich. That will be handy next November when I vote.

It is not inhumane to uphold the sacred rule of law. Granting a path to legal status for millions of immigrants will reward law-breaking and serve as another incentive for countless more to come here. Count me as a real conservative who says NO to Newt!

The far left is salivating over a Newt vs. Obama matchup, since Obama will win.

They also think Romney will have a much better chance of defeating Obama.

I guess Republicans really are the stupid party.

I wouldn't worry about four more years of Obama "leaving no country left to save" Indian Joe. If G.W. Bush (remember him) and Cheney didn't destroy this country nobody can. They blew a budget surplus on tax cuts and left the new president with a S--- sandwidh of two unfunded wars an unfunded medicare pharma a near depression and a deficit of trillions. Other than that everything was just fine. Unfortunately the Republicans offer more of the same stupidity. Romney is now wanting to bomb Iran over a "drone".

God help us.

It just makes me sick to think we are probably facing another election where we will have to hold our noses and pull a lever. I was for Romney 3 years ago, but it was "McCain turn" as it was when Dole ran. I cannot and will not vote for Obama - if he gets another 4 years we will not have a country left for anyone to save. The only good point I can think of on a New/Obama race would be that Newt can out shine on a debate -Obama can't use a teleprompter for that, but I am not so sure that their agendas are not about the same. I really believe tha Romney is the best choice since Paul and Bachman will be out after Iowa, but not sure he can prevail in November 2012. If only Christie had gotten in!!!

If you want to live in Meximerica, vote for Newt. That is what his amnesty will result in. Just look at California, that is the future of the USA if all our immigration laws are not enforced.

Newt's opposition to immigration enforcement will ensure a future US President similar or even worst than Obama, just like his opposition to immigration enforcement transformed California from a center right state that elected Ronald Reagan Governor and President, to one that elects looney leftist Gerry Brown Governor, and has Mexican Nationalists running the Legislature. Look at the bill they just passed giving public college scholarship money to illegal aliens!

Clearly, the anonymous writer below doesn't have a clue as to what the word "fascist" actually means.

Think State control of everything, friend. That's a liberal / leftist goal. That's what fascism is.

Oh well. Another liberal product of government schools that has been taught the government-revised version of history. How sad.

Funny how certain people who identify as republicans brand other republicans, who do not take an extreme, anti-government stance as RINO. Perhaps the extreme right of the GOP should break away and form their own party. I understand the name "fascist" isn't in current use.

Don't worry Republicans!! Newt like Mitt is a true believer in government of the one percent, by the one percent and for the one percent. Neither would do anything to offend the fat cats that run the Republican Party and have put them where they are today.

--RE: Newt Gingrich is not a conservative. He is the ultimate Washington insider who has repeatedly taken very liberal positions. --

Funny how much the DC establishment hates "Newt the so called insider". I'd say with all the love DC has (not) for Newt, he's as good as an outsider, but better...because he does in fact know how DC works.

He has my vote. The country needs bold change, not the friggin' half-cocked way of the RINOs...and certainly not any more of the marxist apologist in chief.

Gingrich is a RINO - and if nominated, will cost the GOP the last chance to save America from Comrade Obama.

Many of us have had it with the republicans allowing themselves to be controlled by the corporations and the other DC insiders. The media is salivating at the chance of helping Newt implode after the primaries.

We will cancel each other out. I will never vote for Gingrich again. Let the Dems kill what is left of the nation . At least there is a better chance of not repeating amnesty when Gingrich loses to the other progressive already in the white House.

Newt Gingrich an "immense ego", really? His ego would make Stone Mountain look like a pebble! The fact that this scam artist and huckster could be leading in this clown car race shows the depths that a once great political party has sunk.

Huntsman is the better choice. Wish people would hear his platform.

No way in _______ will I vote for Newt. If the GOP picks Newt as the candidate against Obama, I will be forced to vote for Obama.

BTW -- I also am a Naturalized American who came to this country legally from Germany. I will never respect any politician who supports amnesty as a position.

Not really, Huntsman supports amnesty also.

The best choices are:

Ron Paul

Michelle Bachman

Mitt Romney

Far too many illegal aliens come here not for the jobs, but for the benefits afforded to them by producing anchor babies.

We have had an invasion from the third world, and it has been aided and abetted by our politicians who represent big business and special interest groups, not their constituents.

Newt Gingrich will be a dangerous choice and his sudden popularity is puzzling. His first appearance in Atlanta was sparsely attended. Too bad he has not lived his life as well as his words.

John, you need to get a grip.....you also need to reexamine your critique of Newt. Listen to ALL of what he says. I am sure you are aware of this but I will remind you, there are more problems looming over this country than illegal immigrants. It sounds like this is an issue near and dear to your heart, however Newt's position is one of reason. If you get your emotions out of the way, his ideas are reasonable. There is no perfect candidate, but I think Newt would take this country back in the right direction.

The tired old " no candidate is perfect" is not going to work again. I can't vote for Newt Gingrich. Ever. I wil leave the president vote blank. I promise.

Gingrich will never beat Obama and is not a conservative. And illegal immigration is directly connected to JOBS, SECURITY, LAW and our future. Newt would get the Dem votes on amensty to please the corporate bosses, then we would watch as the illegals become legal and then vote in another Obama.

Great letter John, and great courage!

If Newt's amnesty passes, what remains of our country will disappear, it will become part of the North American Union. You can already see it in California, and the rest of the US will follow when the relatives and children of 20 million illegal aliens become citizens.

If you think we have problems now, wait until this place becomes Meximerica.

In fact Newt led the conservative revolution against Clinton in the 90's bringing the first Republican Congress in 40 years, was a real conservative Speaker of the House, and he will do the same against Obama. You must be a Democrat or a RINO Romney supporter.

Newt didn't lead a conservative revolution, he led a moderate one against the Clinton's Socialism. Four times he joined with Clinton to pass illegal aliens amnesties, and to prevent immigration law enforcement which led to the current 20 million illegal aliens in the USA, who cost Americans $330 billion a year. That is not conservative.
