MARIETTA — Marietta Police have charged Claude Leroy Brown, 38, of Marietta, in three arsons at businesses on Powder Springs Street in Marietta. The fires began shortly after midnight Monday morning and damaged two businesses and destroyed the Drivers Automotive shop. No one was hurt.

Brown is charged with three counts each of first degree arson, burglary and criminal attempt to commit burglary, all felonies. He is being held without bond in the Cobb Jail.

“He is transient and went on a crime spree with the intentions of committing burglaries and setting buildings on fire,” said Marietta Police Officer David Baldwin.

Jail records indicate Brown lived in an apartment on Dixie Avenue.

Cobb Superior Court records show that a person with the same name, Claude Leroy Brown, who was also born in 1973, pleaded guilty in 2008 to obstruction of a law enforcement officer, battery and other charges, and was sentenced to three years in prison. State corrections records show that person was released from custody on April 28 of this year after serving 26 months in prison.

I feel sad for the business owners.

This boy is going to be locked up for a LONG time.

In all probability, he'll leave prison in a pine box. Hopefully, he'll understand what retribution is all about at the hands of someone sicker than he is.

Good riddance. His mommy failed. His daddy failed.

He failed.

I certainly HOPE he is locked up for a long

time. I hope you know what you're talking

about, Tyler Durden. Too many of these guys

get off with very little punishment.....

I certainly HOPE you know what you're talking

about, Tyler, and that this dude is locked up

for a VERY LONG TIME. At least he will have

a cot, a pot and three hots (meals).

Claude won't work but he destroys the livelihood of those who do. Now he is living off the taxpayers with free room and board at the county jail. He is a low life parasite, a career criminal, and the very reason I have a permit and do carry a gun.

Pretty defiant mugshot, Clod.

Enjoy your time in the CC adult detention center. Too bad the old jail got closed down.
