Herbert D. Griffith, 86, of Marietta, passed away Saturday, October 22, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 27, 2011, in the Chapel of West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta with Pastor Leonard Akers officiating. Entombment will follow at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park. Born in West Virginia, Mr. Griffith moved to Marietta 42 years ago from Charlotte, NC. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and was a former service manager with Howell Richardson Scale Company and was a member of Hollydale United Methodist Church in Marietta. Mr. Griffith also enjoyed volunteer work and bowling with the Club 55 bowling league at Brunswick Lanes on Austell Road. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Melinda Griffith. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Josephine M. Griffith; son, Harry David Griffith of Marietta and brother, Samuel Griffith of Elkins, WV.
