MACON, Ga. (AP) _ Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones says a 3-month-old infant died after falling from a shopping cart outside a grocery store.

Police say the infant, James Anderson Berg, was secured in a car seat, but the seat was not secured to the cart.

Police detective Pamela Williams says the seat and the child rolled out of the cart as a Kroger employee pushed it over a speed bump Tuesday morning.

The infant was rushed to Coliseum Northside Hospital and later to The Medical Center of Central Georgia, where he was pronounced dead Tuesday afternoon.

Kroger officials say they’re cooperating with the investigation.
