MABLETON — A Mableton fast food restaurant was robbed at gunpoint Tuesday, Cobb Police say.

According to police, an employee responded to a knock at the back door of the Zaxby’s restaurant at 5090 Floyd Road about 9:27 a.m. When the employee opened the door, a man carrying a shotgun came in and demanded money, police said.

After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the man fled in the direction toward Patterns Drive, according to police. Investigators believe the robber was dropped off and picked up on Patterns Drive by a large SUV.

The robber is described as a black man wearing a black shirt, black pants and carrying a blue and orange back-pack. His face was covered with a black T-shirt.

Anyone with information is asked to call (770) 499-3945.

First...it's Mableton. Is anyone surprised an armed robbery happened in Mableton?

Second, someone knocked on the backdoor and an employee OPENED IT? Isn't that against company policy? It has been at any retail establishment in which I've worked.

Perhaps the police should be looking at that employee VERY carefully...sounds a little too convenient to me.
