One Jan. 29, Lifestyle reported on Sixty Feet, an action-based ministry dedicated to changing the lives of orphaned children in Uganda at a "child prison."

Children of volunteers involved with Sixty Feet recently came up with their own fundraising idea - an old-fashioned lemonade stand where they sold cupcakes and lemonade. The children donated all the proceeds to Sixty Feet.

At the first sale, the Cupcake Kids raised $260 with parents matching the amount for a total of $520. Several weekends later, other cupcake stands popped up over Cobb County with funds raised of more than $10,000. On April 16, The Cupcake Kids are promoting cupcake sales in each state for Sixty Feet. So far, Sixty Feet has more than 80 independent sales in 28 states and five countries (U.S., Canada, Indonesia, London, and Singapore).

The original "Cupcake Kids" include Henry and Bennett Harper; Amy, Brooke and Taylor Harty; Trey Hill; Lewis Mitchell; and Madeline and Davis Owens.

Others joining the group include Zachary, Emma Grace and John Roe and Eleanor Rand. Visit www.TheCupcakeKids.org and www.SixtyFeet.org for more.

Katie Lloyd, Maggie Boland, Colleen Boland, Ashlyn Belcher, Sarah Krivsky, Sarah Weaver, Emily Buss and Cayden Boyd planned and instituted a bake sale for Japan's tsunami victims.

The girls raised $187.50 for disaster relief that will be sent through the Girl Scouts to help Japanese girls their age.
