Company announces price jump

AUSTELL - Caraustar Industries, Inc. announced it will implement freight surcharges on all shipments of uncoated mill grades and products. The freight surcharge will be 65 cents per mile and will be effective with shipments on and after April 4.

"Carriers have increased rates for many freight lanes recently, and fuel surcharges have increased dramatically," said Greg Bartlett, vice president sales and marketing of the mill group. "We must implement this freight surcharge and will monitor it on a monthly basis."

Caraustar Industries also announced that, due to the continued escalation of input costs on fiber, chemicals, freight and fuel, there will be a $40 per ton price increase effective with shipments on and after April 22 for all clay coated grades from Caraustar's Tama Mill.
