NEW ORLEANS - Police say a gunman opened fire on teenagers attending a party in a New Orleans bar and fled, killing an 18-year-old man and wounding four other teens.

Police said in a press release Sunday that a 16-year-old girl was in critical condition. Two other girls, ages 14 and 17, and a 15-year-old boy were hospitalized in stable condition. Police said all had gunshot wounds.

Officers said shots erupted late Saturday just before midnight. All five were found in the bar, where the 18-year-old was pronounced dead.

New Orleans police spokeswoman Shereese Harper said the shooting happened during a party for teenagers at the B&L Lounge. The telephone at a listing for the lounge rang unanswered Sunday.

Authorities were working to find the shooter and determine a motive.
