MARIETTA — Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle met with almost 50 school superintendents and central office staff members from Georgia’s 19 charter systems at the Marietta City Schools district office Wednesday for the first-ever workshop held by Charter System Foundation Inc. The organization, which was started a few months ago, was invited by Marietta Superintendent Emily Lembeck to host its first event at Marietta Schools’ central office.
Other districts represented were Barrow, Madison and Fulton counties.
Dan Weber, the foundation’s executive director, said Cagle addressed the group during their lunch break and talked about his vision for public education in Georgia and the idea of entrepreneurship untying the hands of teachers and school systems from the state.
State Sen. Lindsey Tippins (R-west Cobb), who chairs the Senate Education Committee, along with members from the Georgia Department of Education, also attended the all-day session.
