KENNESAW — Junior receiver Drevon Jones caught the game-winning 24-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Lorenzo Nunez with 4:06 left in the game to propel the Harrison Hoyas to a 20-13 victory over Pebblebrook.

However, Jones wasn’t finished with his heroics after the touchdown grab.

On Pebblebrook’s next possession after Jones’ touchdown catch, the Falcons had driven to midfield in an effort to tie the game. With 1:30 left, Jones leaped at his own 36-yard-line and picked off Pebblebrook quarterback Dezmond Huntley to seal the win.

Harrison, which improved to 3-1 on the season, survived a sloppy game in which it had four fumbles, losing three.

“I feel like we kind of survived this game tonight, but our defense bowed its neck when it had to and we’ll take it,” Harrison head coach Marty Galbraith said. “We expected Pebblebrook to be a good football team and they were.”

In addition to the turnovers by Harrison, this was a game marred by other mistakes. Harrison and Pebblebrook committed a combined 14 penalties and the Falcons had two field goal attempts blocked and another bounce off the upright and sail wide left.

Those special teams mistakes didn’t go unnoticed by Pebblebrook head coach Tommy Macon.

“We’ve got a kid who consistently kicks 45-yard field goals in practice, but tonight we just didn’t execute,” Macon said. “We definitely have some problems with our kicking game, but we’ve just got to work on it and try to get better. I did think Dezmond (Huntley) played well and so did our offensive line.”

Harrison scored first midway through the first quarter on a 2-yard run by Nunez. After a missed point-after attempt, the Hoyas led 6-0. Harrison led 13-7 at the half, but Pebblebrook (0-4) tied the game at 13-13 on a 17-yard pass from Nunez to Justin Simms at the 3:03 mark of the third quarter.

Nunez paced Harrison on offense, gaining 72 rushing yards and throwing for 123 yards. Huntley had a big night through the air for Pebblebrook. Huntley completed 14-of-25 passes for 250 yards and two touchdowns.

Fumbles....if they don't kill you now then they will surely kill you against the bigger teams. Corners need to move up on the line and quit giving up 10 yds a play....go bump and run please!!!!
