MACON - The connection of quarterback Brooks Stroud and wide receiver Scott McCormick proved to click all night, hooking up seven times for 124 yards accounting as First Presbyterian dAY defeated Whitefield Academy 28-10.

After Stroud set up FPD (5-2) on its first scoring drive with 41 yards on the ground, the two connected for the game's first scoring play, a 29-yard catch and run by McCormick.

Facing a third-and-17 after a holding penalty called back a touchdown, McCormick caught a short pass and weaved through the Wolfpack (2-5) defense to reach the end zone for his third touchdown of the season.

On their subsequent drive the Vikings increased their lead to 14-0 on a 4-yard run by Ben Dubose.

After mustering only 31 yards on their first three offensive series, the Vikings closed the half by gaining 118 yards on their two scoring drives.

After moving the ball across midfield on via the ground attack, Stroud hit McCormick for their second touchdown of the game on a 32-yard strike.

"We were just taking what they were giving us," FPD head coach Greg Moore said. "Those two have worked very hard together over the summer and I feel pretty good about how they work together on their routes."

Whitefield Academy methodically cut the FPD deficit to 21-10 on a 15-play drive that covered most of the final 6 minutes of the third quarter.

The Wolfpack successfully stopped the Vikings on the following drive, but could not further cut into the lead as quarterback Max Kemether misfired on a pair of throws. Kemether did his best to keep the Wolfpack in the game. He completed 22-of-36 passes for 182 yards.
