WOODSTOCK, Ga. (AP) — Police are investigating after a metro Atlanta family found a large cross, which had been set on fire in their front yard.

The flaming cross was found Sunday night, a few steps from the front door of their Woodstock home about 30 miles north of Atlanta.

Someone also left two large chunks of deer meat near their front door, members of the Louis family told WSB Radio.

Kenny Louis said he and his brothers are ready to move. They've been sleeping in shifts to be on guard in case of a similar incident.

"We don't know why, we don't know what's the next step or how far they're willing to go," Louis told WSB-TV.

His brother, Kerry Louis, has a warning for whoever left the cross the deer meat: "Don't come back again," he said. "Don't come back again, we've got guns and stuff."

Residents of the home are black, but the motives behind the crime are not clear.

MDJ took a AP story taken from a 2 minute Atlanta TV news story. Folks, this isn't passing the smell test. That "cross" looked a lot like a mailbox post. The Police seem very skeptical. How about a little independent local investigative reporting?

They have "guns and STUFF?" Did investigators ask what the STUFF is? Alarm, alarm.

So often, incidents like this turn out to be hoaxes. Sure hope that's not the case here. If it's a real incident, I hope the vandals are quickly brought to book.

The folks that did this must have really empty lives. I know some 6th graders they can hang out with.
Just when you think.

Really!!! In this day and age, the thought that someone would plan and prepare, then sneak around at night in the dark to burn a cross in someone's yard is ridiculous. The people that did this must be a real set of LOSERS!!
