Tonya Latrice Young McElrath has been charged with a number of offenses including felony assaulting a police officer and felony possession of cocaine.

McElrath was arrested after police say she assaulted an officer with a 2011 Ford Mustang.

After a pursuit, McElrath was surrounded by three patrol cars. She reportedly rammed her vehicle into an officer’s cruiser while the officer was standing behind the car, attempting to flee the scene near Spring Hill Parkway and Cumberland Boulevard in Smyrna.

A search of her vehicle turned up a clear glass pipe containing what was suspected to be crack cocaine.

Elrath is charged with numerous other traffic offenses including running a red light at Paces Ferry Road and Interstate 285, almost hitting several other vehicles, and running another light at Paces Ferry Road and Cumberland Parkway.
