A woman told police that Rico Robert Martin on Sept. 30 climbed onto her balcony from the floor above her apartment and tried to enter her home, according to an arrest warrant.

Police say Martin climbed onto the woman’s balcony at about 2:30 a.m. and tried to open her door by “jiggling” the handle.

When the woman awoke from sleeping, she looked out the window and saw Martin reportedly trying to enter her apartment.

Martin said he “went onto her balcony to clean any cigarette butts that may have fallen onto her balcony from his,” according to police.

He is charged with misdemeanor loiter prowling and misdemeanor criminal trespass. An arrest warrant said the “accuser’s story did not dispel any alarm or immediate concern for the victim’s safety.”
