MARIETTA — A teenage inmate in the Cobb County jail attacked and beat an ailing prisoner last Friday, according to an arrest warrant.

Adrianna Mitchell, 18, of Dallas attacked fellow inmate Sheryl Deuster, whom the warrant described as a 65-year-old “decrepit woman.”

According to the warrant, Mitchell repeatedly hit Deuster in the head, pulling out clumps of hair, while she lay in bed.

“Adrianna Mitchell also spat in the victim’s face,” the warrant states.

Mitchell faces two new charges, including a felony count of battery and disfigurement, as well as obstruction of law enforcement.

She was in jail following an arrest April 16 for battery, a felony count of property damage and trespassing.

Mitchell has spent 114 days in police custody on a $4,000 bond. However, that amount could go up following the latest charges.

Deuster, of Lawrenceville, was arrested last February on a misdemeanor charge of trespassing. She has been in the jail for 173 days, apparently unable to post a $1,000 bond.

The county jail, officially called the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, is run by the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office.
