Annie Geraldine Wilson, better known as Geraldine, flew away to Heaven on Friday, July 26 surrounded by loved ones and wrapped in many prayers. Gern was preceded in death by parents William J. Ayers and Alice Moon Ayers of Cobb County. Her husband, James Harvey Wilson Carnesville preceded her to Heaven after 63 loving years. She was also preceded by brothers, Bud Ayers, Lem Ayers, Donnie Ayers; and sisters, Betty Jan Merchant, Margaret Hollingsworth, Judy Rogers, Jo Davis and Jean Darling Ledford. She is survived by her sister, Pat Holcombe, Vinings; sons, Jimmy Wilson and wife Donna, Missouri City, Texas; Jerry Wilson and wife Doris, Sylva N.C.; John Wilson and wife Sandra, Carnesville; and Jeff Wilson and wife Susan, Griffin; and daughter Joyce Robbins and husband Dennis, Colbert. Mom was blessed with 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Mom was born prematurely on June 18, 1919, weighing less than 2 pounds and the doctor said throw her in that box as she will not survive and let’s save the mother. She was told early in life that as a preemie baby she would not have any children. Being the second oldest of 11 children and the oldest daughter she had to raise and help develop her younger brothers and sisters. She continued this love of nurturing her whole life. Mother was a Christian person and led her life accordingly. Mom had many talents, including cooking, flowers, quilting and doll making. Where she excelled was sharing and shaping her children and grandchildren with her quiet love, her undivided individual attention, her love and knowledge of nature and her enduring example of a warm loving caring role model. In other words, Mom was an angel. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the Alzheimer’s Association National Office, 225 North Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
