Julie E. Walkosky, 68, of Marietta passed away at her home on Aug. 15. Her cause of death was massive, inoperable spinal cancer. She was the wife of George J. Walkosky and the daughter of Rose and Johnny Merckel of Detroit, Mich. She was a proud member of Mount Paran Church of God from October 1984 to the time of her passing. She is survived by her husband George of Marietta; her sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Jerry Gutman, of West Bloomfield, Mich.; and her nephew, Steve Hudson of South Lyon, Mich. Julie graduated from Berkley High School in Berkley, Mich., in 1962; Ferris State College in Big Rapids, Mich., in 1964; and Wayne State University in Detroit in 1967 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. A private entombment service was held at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park in Marietta. A “Celebration of Life” memorial service will be held at Mount Paran North Church of God, 1700 Allgood Road, Marietta, GA 30062, on Friday, Aug. 30 at 3 p.m., followed by a reception at the Walkosky residence. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to The American Cancer Society or Tranquility at Kennesaw Mountain Hospice, 475 Dickson St., Marietta, GA 30064.
