Mary Kathrine Kirk Underwood, 94, of Marietta died Monday, August 12, 2013. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday at Marietta First Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. Nelson Price and Rev. Dean Hunter officiating. Interment will be in Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta. Mrs. Underwood was a lifelong resident of Marietta, Ga. She was a member of Marietta First Baptist where she taught 6 year old Sunday School for some 30 years and was a member of the WMU of Marietta First Baptist. She was a member of Roswell Street Baptist Church from 1987 to present. Mrs. Underwood owned and operated Rosemary Beauty Salon in Marietta for 35 years. She was a member of the Pilot Club and an active member of the Cosmetology Association. Because of her servant heart, her life touched her family, church, and community through the love of Christ. Mrs. Underwood is survived by her daughter, Rosemary Chatfield and her husband, Robert of Kennesaw; her son, Bill Underwood of Kennesaw; five grandchildren, Mary Margaret Lewis and her husband, Jon of Marietta, Kirk Underwood and his wife, Amanda of Kennesaw, Chad Chatfield and his wife, Kelly of Kennesaw, David Underwood and his wife, Amie of Acworth, Will Underwood of Kennesaw; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry William Underwood, Sr. Contributions may be made to Roswell Street Baptist Church Missions Fund, 774 Roswell Street, Marietta, Ga 30060 or Marietta First Baptist Church Missions Fund, 148 Church Street, Marietta, Ga 30060. Family will receive friends 12 noon to 2:00 pm Wednesday at the Church. Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta will be handling the arrangements.
