Need a good laugh? Go see “The Great American Trailer Park Musical” co-produced by Marietta Players and Gina Ann Carlton Riggs, and directed by Blaine Clotfelter. The musical runs Wednesdays through Sundays through March 15 at 11 Whitlock Ave., Marietta, (formerly Theatre in the Square).

The new tenant at Armadillo Acres is wreaking havoc all over Florida’s most exclusive trailer park. When Pippi, the stripper on the run, comes between the Dr. Phil-loving, agoraphobic Jeannie and her tollbooth collector husband, storms begin to brew.

The show is recommended for mature audiences because of the subject matter.

“It is a hilarious show dealing with betrayal and adultery. But, it has some tender moments in it as well as the couple works toward rebuilding their relationship. Think Jerry Springer done as a musical,” said Riggs, a Woodstock resident who was born in Marietta. She and the show’s director, Blaine Clotfelter, both attended Marietta High School.

“It’s been great to reconnect with Blaine,” she said.

The production is an ensemble cast of seven, including Riggs (Jeannie Garstecki), Brian Brooks (Norbert Garstecki), Lauren Butterfield (Pippi), Jenn Loudermilk (Bad Ass Betty), Katrina Stroup (Pickles), Amy Dawson (Linoleum), and Zac Phelps (Duke).

The show was performed in the first annual New York Music Theater Festival in 2004. “Trailer Park” opened off-Broadway at Bows at Dodger Stages on Sept. 27, 2005, and starred Marietta native (Broadway and film star) Shuler Hensley.

“Guys who don’t like theater will love this show. It’s funny, raunchy and just fun to watch. It’s a great show for a date night or a girls’ night out,” Riggs said.

As a special feature, Chandler Riggs (Carl, from The Walking Dead) will be available during intermission on the Wednesday and Thursday performances for photo ops.
