Too bad Bush wasn’t as cautious as Obama

DEAR EDITOR:

If I’m not mistaken, there is no definitive proof that Assad has used chemical weapons against the opposition. As letter-writer Bill Bruner “Obama Gone Wobbly” stated in last week’s MDJ, “It has been reported” that Assad’s forces have used sarin gas against the rebels. As I recall, “it was reported” that Saddam had WMD’s and, acting on those erroneous reports, DUBYA propelled us into war with Iraq. Perhaps had he been a “bit wobbly,” we could have avoided one of the most costly wars in our history in terms of military and civilian casualties; not to mention the tremendous financial burden we have incurred.

Obama is correct in waiting until we have creditable proof that Assad has used chemical weapons before moving forward militarily.
