Veterans Day Parade

The Veterans Day Parade will start at Roswell Street Baptist Church and move westward on Roswell Street to Glover Park and around the Square to Lawrence Street.

Veterans Day Ceremony

The City of Acworth will have their annual ceremony to honor veterans at the Veterans Memorial at Patriots Point in Cauble Park. Veterans and current servicemen will give comment on what service to the country means to them. Engraved pavers dedicated to those who have served in the Armed Forces have been purchased since the previous Memorial Day and are presented at the event. Pavers are available for purchase – 4”x8” pavers with up to three lines with 18 spaces are $75 and 8”x8” pavers with four lines with 18 spaces are $125.

Veterans Day Program

The East Cobb Senior Center will have a Veterans Day Program for adults ages 55-plus. Ken Myers will lecture on his collection of memorabilia and uniforms spanning the time period from World War I to Operation Iraqi Freedom. Many of the items in the display are accompanied by pictures of the men and women to whom they belonged. In addition there is one uniform which is not identified by a name, but is labeled “In Honor of All Those Veterans Who are Unknown by Name.”

Veteran Appreciation Event

Heritage of Brookstone, a senior lifestyle community, will have a free Veteran Appreciation event.

WHEN: Beginning at 11 a.m., there will be an 11-hour vigil, representing the 11th hour ending of World War I on Nov. 11, 1918. During the vigil, the community will have a resident, staff member, veteran or family member of a veteran watch the flag and tend a candle, not unlike the 3rd U.S. Infantry does for the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, an Arlington National Cemetery.

Veterans Day Celebration and Parade

Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery in Marietta will have a Veterans Day Celebration and Parade.

WHEN: 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Smyrna Veterans Day Ceremony

The City of Smyrna, the Smyrna Veterans Committee, the Veterans Memorial Association of Smyrna and the American Legion Post 160 will sponsor Smyrna’s Veterans Day Ceremony. Pre-ceremony music provided by the Whitefield Academy Band. Guest speakers will be retired Maj. Gen. Thomas A. Wessels and Past Commander, Department of Georgia, American Legion Bill Lienhop. Breigha Young will sing the National Anthem and the Belmont Hills Elementary Choral Group will give a musical salute to veterans. Free. Across from City Hall at the Twentieth Century Veterans Memorial on the corner of Bank and King streets between City Hall and the Library. In case of inclement weather, the event will be in the Smyrna Community Center, 200 Village Green Circle, Smyrna, 30080.

WHEN: 11 a.m. 

Veterans Lunch

In recognition of Veterans Day, the City of Kennesaw will honor the service of military members past and present with a complimentary lunch at the Ben Robertson Community Center. North Cobb American Legion Post 304 is partnering with Kennesaw officials to host the lunch. All veterans and active duty military are invited to attend. No identification will be required.
